Summary
“Can I look yet?” Lord burbles. The water muffles the sounds above, but he can barely make out Collector’s squeal.
“Not yet,” they chirp, “just let me… there! Done! Look, look, look!”
There’s the tiny feeling of two hands tugging on his scruff, the only part of his body breaching the waterskin - he blinks the boiling water from his eyes, feeling each bubble burst playfully against his skull, and peers upward. A smattering of stars fills the sky directly above them - scattered crudely, surrounded by deep empty space. The stars are clustered into two bloblike shapes, although he can’t recognise the fine points of either.
“It’s us!” Collector shrieks. “Look! There’s you, and there’s your horns and your claws and your tail - and there’s me! And there’s Eggy! We’re holding hands, see? See?”

After Rapunzel turns down his request for help, Varian returns to Old Corona only to find his father petrified in amber. Devastated, he vows to find a solution himself at the risk of his own health, having already taken ill from the raging blizzard outside. He overworks himself into collapse and is subsequently found by Rapunzel, Eugene and Cassandra, who decide to make things right by looking after him, even with tensions running high between them.
In other words: AU where Varian doesn't go 0-100 and become a villain, and the force of logic is (somewhat) observed because there's no way he ran around in a blizzard by himself and didn't come back at least a little sniffly.

Summary
Richie, Ruth and Pete all end up spending their summer at Camp Idontwannabang, where they find Stephanie Lauter, (unsurprisingly) Grace Chasity and (very surprisingly) Max Jägerman. Under the constant, watchful eye of the counselors, Max is forced to drop the literal monster schtick and they see a nicer side of him that leaves them wondering how genuine this tentative friendship is and if it will last when school’s back in session. Either way, they’ll have to band together if they want to survive whatever’s lurking out in the woods.
