Steve pulls away and looks at him, and Eddie looks back. His vision is still blurred, and he can feel the others’ eyes on them, but Steve doesn’t seem to care. He’s just gazing at Eddie, and his hair is longer than it’s supposed to be. It looks nice, but it’s different, because it’s been months, and Eddie doesn’t fucking remember any of it.

"Gotta admit, I thought hooking up with Steve Harrington, King of Hawkins High, was one of the more far fetched of my teenage fantasies," Eddie says, still that joking tone, a friendly humor that's starting to sit like a fucking rock in the pit of Steve's stomach.
But he forces another laugh, anyway, tries to keep his voice even and his smile from wobbling as the horrible dawn of realization threatens in the corners of his mind where he's refusing to look. "What?"
"I didn't know you, like..." Eddie makes some apparently meaningful gestures with his eyebrows, but when Steve doesn't respond, finishes with, "...swung that way, man."
And suddenly Steve can't bear to look at him anymore.
Or: Steve and Eddie hook up and are equally misinformed in the aftermath, but get dragged kicking and screaming to their happy ending

Summary
Steve knew that he wasn't the most intelligent man in the world. He was never very academically gifted. He had never found any passion or hobby that required special knowledge. He didn't have any skills that set him apart from the majority, really. Something Steve did have, however, was social skills and he knew that he was good at reading people. So, he certainly never expected to be in a situation where Robin was explaining social cues to him.
Or: Robin makes an observation that leads to Steve's hot girl summer: the bisexual edition.

“Rob, oh my god, look. He actually matched with me,” Steve said, shoving his phone at Robin.
“Uh, Steve. He did more than match with you, babe,” Robin said with eyes wide. Steve balked and looked at the messages tab, scrolling past the old men, and paused when he saw that Eddie had sent him a message.
“Oh my god?” Steve shot up from the table and ran to his room, the message feeling too private to even share with Robin. He collapsed on his bed and rolled over onto his tummy, kicking his feet as he looked at the message from Eddie. He read it over three times before he believed it was real and as he looked at the timestamp of the message, he realized Eddie had messaged him almost immediately after they matched.
Eddie was a younger daddy, hot as fuck, and interested in Steve. He squealed as he typed his message back.
_After Steve's parents cut him off financially, Robin comes up with a brilliant plan for Steve to be able to pay his bills. SweetShoppe, the most professional sugaring app on the market. Steve is skeptical, until he comes across the profile of Eddie Munson, a music producer and the hottest guy Steve has ever seen. Maybe this wasn't the worst idea after all...
