    Xie Lian stared blankly at his screen taking in the bottom notification on his screen. A small calendar reminder labeled ‘five year anniversary with San Lang!!!’ stared mockingly back up at him. It was marked for today. Ah- of course. How could he forget? No wonder he was in such a bad mood. Today was supposed to be his and Hua Cheng’s five year anniversary together. This almost felt like a mockery, or a cruel trick from the universe. Sending Xie Lian multiple reminders of Hua Cheng on this cursed day. Well if he’s already miserable why not make it worse?

    Or: based loosely on the retelling of my own life experiences Xie Lian and Hua Cheng break up, and a year later Xie Lian struggles with his feelings realizing he never got over Hua Cheng and he can't. (but they get the happy ending I didn't get to have and get back together in the end.)
