Summary
Hyunjin's always been a beta, or at least he thought he was. Despite betas usually having a slight scent, he had none, but he thought it was impossible to be unpresented at that point. It starts small at first, with the youngest noticing he's being clingier - then, their only omega up until then starts behaving weirdly.

With a tinge of humiliation, Hyunjin quickly scrambled back so abruptly that his lower back hit the arm of his seat. He would feel that, later. He wiped the drool away from his bottom lip self consciously and sniffled.
“I am so sorry,” he apologized frantically, but the man didn’t look too bothered. In fact, he only smiled nicely as he straightened up the T-shirt that Hyunjin rumpled by napping and drooling all over.
Great. If he managed to snap a picture and send it out to the internet, then Hyunjin would be done for. His manager would shun him forever.
Instead of replying with an ‘it’s okay’ or maybe even- ‘never sleep on my shoulder ever again, you freak.’ What left his mouth was- “you’re my soulmate.”Or
Everyone had a soulmate- the first words exchanged tattooed on their skin. Hwang Hyunjin just so happened to meet his on a plane ride to Milan fashion week.

"You don’t want to go to the infirmary because you’re an alpha?" Changbin’s eyes widened in disbelief. "Look, you don’t have to be ashamed, okay? Alphas can get hurt too. Like my cousin, he once got shot and he-"
"A shot?!" Changbin blurted out, stunned.
"Yeah, a shot. He hung around with kinda bad people, but whatever. Point is, he got shot and refused to go to the hospital for, like, an hour because he thought his alpha strength would let him tough it out. Dumb idea. He almost died, but thankfully, he’s alive." Hyunjin crossed his middle finger over his index, as if sealing the truth of his words.
Changbin was speechless for a moment, blinking at the cheerful face in front of him. He couldn’t decide whether he found the boy even weirder now, or if he should just focus on how unrealistically pretty he was.
"Thanks, but I don't need to go to the infirmary. The pain's already fading."
"Alright!" Hyunjin smiled, pulling the ball a little closer to his chest. "But if you get shot..."
"I'll go, don't worry."{xxx}

“Hyung…” he said in a weak voice, and Changbin’s hands paused to listen. “Will you always love me?”
“What are you saying, Hyunjinnie?” he said gently, and Hyunjin knew without looking that he was smiling. “I already told you—it’s impossible for me to stop loving you.”
“Even if I’m not who you think I am?”
“Oh, you’ve got your secrets? That’s fine, we all do,” Changbin said kindly as he ran his fingers through Hyunjin’s hair. “Those are yours, you don’t have to share them unless you want to, but I love everything I’ve got to know about you over the years, Hyunjin. That’s never going to change.”
Hyunjin tries to deal with what he feels for Changbin while also attempting to confess a big truth about himself, but the fear of being rejected and ruining everything he’s built with his bandmates holds him back. Even worse, he’s terrified of losing Changbin.

“I also think it’s cute, Yennie,” says Jisung. He puts a hand on Jeongin’s nape and Hyunjin’s eyes stay on that instead.
Jeongin smacks Jisung’s hand away, giving him a glare, before he shoves another piece of bread in his own mouth. Stretching his cheeks in a way that Hyunjin finds to be extremely cute.
“You aren’t a girl, why would I care.”
It’s an off-handed comment. Brief. Delivered nonchalantly.
Still, for some reason, it carves a little scratch in Hyunjin’s gut. Makes him feel a little upset. And by little, he means it in a way that he loses his appetite to eat.
At the age of 14, he’s once again reminded of that fact. And, somehow, it was a little worse that year.
Yang Jeongin only liked girls.
In which Jeongin has had his eyes on multiple people growing up, but Hwang Hyunjin has only ever had his eyes on him.
