I nodded, tears stinging at the corners of my eyes. I tried to open my mouth but it felt sewed closed and poked with hot needles and barbed wire.
His index finger hovered over the open button for the windowed brown door behind him, he seemed to be contemplating whether or not he should let me go back in. I nodded in agreement. I had too. Jean would be disappointed if I left another house, no matter how much I wanted to. The button clicked and the door made a beep like a prison door opening, and I stepped in.

Summary
I've never really understood Halloween.
Kids go around in costumes for the fun of it, going to houses and requesting candy in order to satiate their hunger for destruction. 1, as a father, that sounds like something kids would do, 2, that's so far out of my comfort zone I circled back into it. (That's a horrible metaphor)
But it's not like I had anything else planned that day, and Leo's offering of Bacon was much appreciated to get my attention.

Summary
The thing about gods is that they don't exactly have hygiene. No showers, no toilets, or any anything else your mom used to scold you about. So when you take a god, plop him into the world as 16 year old with no mortal mother to tell him to wear...say deodorant. (And no Lester, you cannot magically make your pits stink less). He's going to be petty and never take A SHOWER! Or brush his teeth. Which is how I ended up with a hammer in my hands, a girlfriend obsessed with donuts, and a traumatized 16 year old, high on toothpaste.
