Summary
Dick unintentionally pulls a Bruce and he's less ready for it than he thought. Danny has the world on his shoulders and blames himself for everything that goes wrong.
Both suffering from past trauma, which makes becoming family difficult. Luckily they're not as alone as they thought. And thankfully time is very much in their favor.

Summary
Danny Fenton is thirteen when he gets his powers and decides that the best use of them is to protect his painfully plain town from ghosts. For the first three months, everything is grrrre— fine! Just fine. It's a lot harder than he was expecting, nothing like what the tv shows he grew up with made it out to be, but he'll make do! It's what he does.
Then Vlad Masters, the only other person with ghost powers like his—someone Danny has purposely been putting out of his mind, since Masters wants his Dad dead—and whom he hasn't seen since the truce Danny blackmailed out of him a month ago, shows up in Amity Park. He claims it's not for trouble, he just wants to go over the stipulations for their tenuous truce. And, also, spend time with his godson; Danny himself.
Danny can handle it! He can handle it. He's his own hero. He...
He might need some help.
Or someone disconnected from Amity Park as a whole, outside of Vlad's sphere of influence, who doesn't know who Danny Fenton or his crazy parents are. Without any stakes in the game, away from this ghost nonsense, that Danny can exist with. He doesn't even have to be Danny for it.
Maybe he just... needs a friend.

Summary
For the last month, Clockwork has been teaching Danny how to do almost everything blind. The why has been unknown, but at this point Danny learned not to question the ancient and to just go with the flow. It was easier than trying to figure out the old ghost’s riddles.
Well, now he knows why.
