After discarding everything except his sword and his purse, both of which hung at his belt, he headed back down, finding a seat in a more secluded corner of the main bar, two bartenders hurriedly taking orders and heading back inside to the kitchen.
It didn’t take Impulse long to realize that most of this town was human—and at first, he’d assumed Jimmy was the only exception. But when another bartender came rushing out of the kitchen, Impulse quickly registered the small set of white wings on his back, dark hair glinting in the dim light of the tavern.
Interesting.
One hesitant thought flashed through Impulse’s mind, but he shoved it back down. Surely not. It wouldn’t be that easy for one of… them to hide.

or: You ran away from the horrors of living in a dystopian cyberpunk city only to stumble your way into a different type of horror: a mist-covered village with the monster waiting for you in the darkness.
(aka a horror text adventure fangame inspired by gem’s hc10 base that i’ve never ended up making so i turned the idea into a fanfic instead.)

A really cool translation of Gem's s10 base as an actual village currently blanketed under a layer of time-dilation-related fog. Uses 2nd person. Also the one with the Dredger, the Anthropologist, and the Collector. Makes me want to draw something for this in combination with Break Like an Artist... Maybe at some point.

Tango leaves the cabin and turns left. A while later, he turns right, and a while after that, he turns left again, taking a winding path through the aftermath of Etho.
Or: Tango’s escape is successful, by most people’s parameters. For himself, there’s a bit farther to go before he can feel safe again, and it’s harder to create distance than he’d like when the people who most want to help him are the people he’s running hardest from.
