“Not so fun being sick huh?” Wukong chuckled, placing a warm cup of tea on the table near him. “Go fuck yourself.” Macaque said grumpily, making Wukong gasp. “Language, there are baby monkeys around.” He joked, standing up. “I’m limited on what I know to cook, want me to order something?”
Macaque nodded, slightly embarrassed about being treated like this. “..Chicken..” He said after a while, using the blanket to pick up the hot cup and cradle it in his hands, blowing on the water softly. “You got it!” Wukong said a bit too loudly, making Macaque hiss. “Oh- Sorry.” Wukong smiled apologetically and walked outside to make the call.

The earth yielded reluctantly. He dug with bare claws, tearing at roots and slick clay, each scoop a frantic, feverish motion. Mud caked his arms to the elbow, cold and heavy as remorse.
"You... crazy... damned... Wukong..." he gasped, continuing to dig, not thinking about what he would find, "You have fun, huh? To see me fail continuously. You're seeing me and thinking... well suited to him... and you're right... You're fucking right!"
He stopped digging, hands and legs dirty with dirt and more. He growled, "I can't save you... but if you hate me... if you despise me so much... then come back... come back like a curse... like a nightmare... but come back..."
Nothing happened, and honestly, Macaque didn't know what to expect.
(In which the fight between Macaque and Wukong has a different outcome, and Macaque is left to deal with the consequences and training of the possible reincarnation of his lost love.)

Summary
When it comes to the sea, most demons find themselves delving into wars, piracy, and other such sea-faring dangers so as to fuel their hunger for battle and death. One would expect the Six-Eared Macaque to be the same— after all, his work is with shadows, and legend has it that he was once used as a valuable pirate on the side of his former captain, the vengeful Lady Bone Demon.
The last place one would think to see Macaque is living in a cabin by a great coral reef, researching the life there and dedicating himself to the care of the sea. And yet, here he is, spending his days examining ocean life and relaxing by the evening shore. No longer does he participate in needless conflict— rather, he’s determined to live a life of peace.
However, this serenity seems to be in jeopardy as something continuously robs him of his food, bonds with the wildlife, and steals his art supplies to draw peaches on the walls.

AU: Heaven found Wukong's egg and realized the thing inside could be dangerous but couldn't agree to destroy it. So, they compromised and decided to lock away whatever hatched to keep it and the world safe.

Summary
The very first clue about the things that he has never realized about the king was the faint smell of peaches that are just the perfect amount of ripe. Which should be normal if it’s not also emits a concerning amount of discomfort that should not be there if it's just normal scent.
Because the common misconception people have about the Monkey King is to immediately think that he is an alpha. Even if the very book of Journey to The West itself did casually state his second gender as a beta. A very fitting for someone that is not particularly interested in most of the love affairs happening within the book. Nor do they ever mention anything about him being keen on scent or giving any symptoms of needing time for … private affairs involving his gender identity.
A beta should not emit scent, they might go for perfume, but that certainly does not explain the emotion attached to the faint smell that emits from Wukong right now.

“You didn’t show up,” Wukong points out from the bottom of the tree, and there’s nothing behind it. For such a loaded sentence, he delivers it like a simple observation.
Macaque scoffs, and it wobbles. He looks down at the monkey. The black eye is still there. “Didn’t feel like it.” It’s not a lie, technically.
Wukong frowns. “I waited for hours. You could’ve sent a heads up.”
“Why the fuck is your eye not fixed?”

“I will explain it. So anyway, Wukong-” Oops, Macaque was talking again. Wukong immediately looked to his side where his best friend looked at him with a similar concerned face that he did before. “Do you remember how many demons that tried to attack you all this time?”
What kind of question is that? How would he even remember them when they were all so boring and easily bested. But alas, as the great awesome king that he certainly is! He will try to be super nice and answer Macaque as truthfully as possible, even if he doesn't see the point of the question. “Well, as a matter of fact, sooooo many- But I don’t see why this is supposed to make me panic though? I’m super strong!”
“And I suppose you don’t know why they were all attacking you separately? On a duel?” Peng, again, interjects. Macaque shot him a glare and sighs. Wukong starts to feel like there might be more to this battle thing that makes all of them decide to confront him about it.
Or: Wukong is oblivious to all of the demons making advances toward him, everyone in Brotherhood starting to realize what's going on and confront him about it
