Neither Boba nor Fennec are nice. Din understands. He’s lived a hard life full of violence and loss, and he surrounds himself with that close-held composure to keep strangers at bay.
To be able to put specific personal details to the stories he’s heard of both Fennec and Boba’s exploits through the galaxy seems almost too much. That Fennec likes her caf so strong it’s practically thick, just the smell setting Din’s teeth on edge. The sugar and spicy cinnamon that Boba stirs into his own from the tin tucked neatly with the others in the galley of his ship. Din prefers Boba’s caf to Fennec’s.

Soap choked, the water he’d sipped lodging itself unattractively in the wrong tube. Ghost gave him an empathetic look. He pulled his arm from the chair to rub Soap’s back, squeezing once before letting him go. Soap wasn’t sure what was worse, the way he couldn’t quit hacking or how his face flamed at the physical contact. Maybe both.
