"Shut up." Billy frowns, lip curling up in a sneer even as his heart pounds heavily in his chest, aches throbbing as his body goes tight again.
"Alright." Steve nods, accepting, fingers brushing against Billy’s fiddling with his pack of cigarettes as he digs out another one, needing the distraction. "Offer stands."

As soon as Steve has his drink in hand Billy is pushing him back toward the table, glaring at anyone who looks like they might be interested in chatting either of them up. “Don’t wander off again, lots of predators in the bar tonight, pretty boy like you will get eaten up."
"Just not the guy I want to eat me." Steve snorts in front of him and Billy would have missed it if not for the lull in the music. “What?” Steve hisses, drink sloshing out a little as Billy abruptly twists him so they are facing.
"What was that?" He asks, heart rate kicking up, as far as he knows the only people Steve knows here are the ones he came with.
"Nothing." Lie.

"Sweetheart, you know that's not how it works," he says, like he's patiently explaining. "No refunds, no exchanges. It's all in the fine print."

Steve ripped his shoulder out of his grip, putting distance between them, and Billy’s eyes flickered down to the knife still in Steve’s hand, grinning like they were just playing a game. He grinned like he wasn’t a murderer, like Steve wasn’t his captive, like that girl deserved any of this.
He licked over his bottom lip like they were still in a standoff outside of the Byers’ house, like this knife wasn’t used to kill some innocent eighteen year old girl, like Steve didn’t want to fucking stab him over and over, and over again until Billy got it.
Steve wasn’t the Bonnie to his Claude. He was never going to be.
“Behave, pretty boy,” Billy said with a raise eyebrow, almost challenging him. “Better put that down before you get yourself hurt.”

Steve's face looks golden in the light of the setting sun, and when he drops his eyes from where he was holding Billy’s gaze, his eyelashes paint shadows on the light flush of red in his cheeks.
He looks so fucking pretty that Billy’s breathless with it. Doesn’t know what to do, just holds still and can’t tear his eyes from his face as Steve leans in close, too close, to put lotion onto the front of his shoulders, rubbing it in carefully, so carefully, as if he’s trying not to hurt Billy. Touching Billy’s chest, staring at it where it rises with every shallow breath under Steve’s hands.
Then he looks up, straight into Billy’s eyes, and Billy’s sure his brain stops working for a second.
