"Dean tosses his duffel bag onto the bed and lets out a long sigh. He knows he has to check on Cas next. Doing so has become a routine for him, a way to ease his conscience, even though Dean’s never sure what he will find. Dean’s been renting Cas a room at the Starlight Motel year-round since he left, figuring it's the least he can do for the guy. Cas tends to move around a lot, usually seeking out the sketchiest people while chasing his next high. At least this way, Dean can try to help his friend retain some semblance of home, even if it's back here, of all places."

Summary
Sam and Dean give Chuck the final showdown that he wants. But once Sam’s gun goes off and Dean is lying on the pavement with a bullet in his head, Chuck is disappointed. In frustration, he disappears, leaving them alone at last.
Castiel is pulled from the Empty and thrown back onto Earth with Dean, only Chuck’s final, sick joke is that he hasn’t made their reunion easy. Cas is stuck sixteen years in the past with 25-year-old Dean, John, and no way of getting back to where he belongs.
Meanwhile, back in 2020, Dean awakes in the hospital with no memories of who he is or his past.

With the help of his colleague and friend, Sam Winchester, Castiel restores his father’s car to like-new. And now, with the help of Sam’s brother, Dean, an EMT who plays mechanic as a hobby, Castiel tries to overcome his newfound anxiety about driving through drag racing with Dean and his friends.
But Castiel finds himself irresistibly drawn to Dean, who offers himself as a distraction from Castiel’s problems and reveals to Castiel that the Winchesters have a dark past that Sam has never spoken about.
And, just like they drive, Castiel and Dean are fast and reckless, using each other to run from their own lives, which are connected more than Castiel realizes.
