It was a joke. Rory knew it. Jess knew it. But still, the temptation was there as she contemplated the offer. Rory wanted to say: “Hmm, maybe in a little bit.” The words were on the tip of her tongue because, after all, that was the proper thing to say. But, instead, Rory acted. It was unlike her really; the temptation overpowering her.
And Rory pushed him. Just on the shoulder, but it was enough to throw Jess into the water with a splash.

No, this was Rory Gilmore unhinged. Rory Gilmore out-of-depth. It was as if a wild, untamed force had taken hold of her, leading her on a journey to the unknown. An out-of-depth, little girl painted into the urban scenery of a modern Rembrandt.
