Summary
Their lips are already pressed against each other when Lucifer remembers he shouldn’t be doing this.
The demon tastes like smoke, ethanol, and something deceptively sweet. Like he always does. It took quite a bit to acclimatise to at first, but now Lucifer clings to the taste like it's the only thing keeping him in this plane of existence.
With how far it feels like he's fallen, perhaps it is.

Summary
Waking up to blue skies was not what Alastor was expecting. Alastor wasn’t expecting to wake up, to be fair. Bleeding out from an angelic wound didn’t lend itself much in the way of coming back from dying a second time. The color of the sky was more of a shock. Instead of a blood red sky encased in a Pentagram, crystal clear blue skies with fluffy white clouds were above him. A blue bird flew overhead and chirped a merry tune. Alastor blinked a few times, just to be sure of what he was seeing. But no, nothing changed. He breathed in and the air was almost sweet from the scent of flowers, the breeze was cool and the sun was warm.
Surely he didn’t do anything that would warrant actual redemption that Charlie was gunning for.
Alastor sat up. He looked around and looked down at himself. Still a demon, still in his deer form. His claws felt around, but his cane was nowhere to be found. Just soft dewy grass under his fingertips.

Charlie is sure it would be a huge success and all of Hell would celebrate the return of the royal couple! However, unknown to her, Lucifer had finally found his soulmate and was not letting go. Not that his soulmate had any such inclinations, either.

1/26/24: Just a disclaimer that I started this like 3.5yr before the show aired, so much of this story's Hazbin lore is considerably different than what was revealed as canon. I'll have to largely stick to the characterization and lore I committed to.

Summary
Alastor had long accepted that indulging in anything that could be perceived as weakness got you nowhere in Hell, and he’d be damned again if he did something as pedestrian as asking for help. But when his wound from the recent failed extermination drove him to the brink of a more permanent second death, he knew there was only one being who may be able to heal him, and he would have to seek him out whether he liked it or not.
Lucifer had long given up on sinners and on the idea of his own happy ending, but he was determined to rebuild his relationship with his daughter and support her in achieving her own dreams. So, when a certain irksome—and very injured—Radio Demon came calling one evening, he found himself choosing to hope for the first time in a long time, and set about healing the sinner.
Neither had known the significance that evening would hold, nor that it would send them both on a path of self discovery, facing their pasts, and finding a happiness they never thought possible. And most importantly—they were on that path together and would remain there for each other, tomorrow, and after.

Alastor hummed his agreement, wrapping his arms around Lucifer’s lithe body in turn.
“Do you want me to stay?” He asked, almost hesitantly.
Because he wasn’t sure if it was the right question to ask in the moment…nor was he sure if he wanted to know the answer.
The King was quiet for several seconds, and the sinner held his breath, his heart pounding in his chest, the wait unbearable, especially if he was just going to say no .
But finally—
“Yes.”
The word was short, but full of worry and hope.
Hope, perhaps, that he wanted to stay, too, but worried that…he might not want to.
The demon smiled again, then curled up in the angel’s arms, fitting his head underneath his chin.
Lucifer breathed out an unsteady sigh of relief, and pulled him even closer, cradling the Radio Demon’s head to his chest.
The wings around them went lax, draping over them like a blanket—heavy, but not suffocating. And…oddly comforting.
He could get used to this, he admitted to himself.
The angel flicked his wrist and the room went dark.
“Thank you too…Alastor,” he said after several moments of quiet, but the tone of his voice said much, much more.
Lucifer, the mighty King of Hell, was afraid . But not of him, no . Of being left again .
He was sad, he was lonely. He’d locked himself up like a princess in her tower, wanting to be saved but…unsure of how to actually go about it.
On any other day, Alastor would have called him pathetic . He had made it his job to be heartless and cruel to almost anyone who had crossed his path, wielding kindness as a double-edged blade when he felt he could profit .
But here, now…that wasn't what he wanted.
Which…almost surprised him.
Why , Alastor, the altruist , the voice in his head said and his stomach dropped. You've gone soft in your old age.
He grinned mildly, fondly, relishing the warmth of the angel's body against his.
No, he told the voice. Not soft. Pain and carnage still brought him immense joy, and it always would. He would never be— could never be—as kind and selfless as Lucifer was.
But despite that, lying in his arms like this, he thought could understand.
The King took care of his own, and he wanted—no, needed —to be strong for them. But like Alastor, he hid himself behind a face of confidence and an air of arrogance.
But at the end of the day, who was there…to take care of him? Of both of them?
Afterall, he was still a person, just as Alastor was. And no matter how hard they'd both tried to push those feelings down, they always found their way back up, even if they didn't want them to.
The mask could never truly, fully stay in place.
And the Radio Demon felt, for the first time in his life, that maybe, with Lucifer…that might not necessarily be a bad thing. Here, behind closed doors, where they didn’t have to keep up pretense and just…be themselves.
A soft, slow track of music began playing around them. Something that would help bring peace to the both of them, and lull them into an easy, restful sleep.
“I’ll still be here,” the demon assured him, arms tightening protectively around the angel, who's breath audibly caught in his throat with a quiet whine. Alastor buried his face into Lucifer’s neck, breathing in the salty scent of sweat and the sweet smell of…apples? He sighed contentedly and closed his eyes.
He would be the prince that rescued the princess from her tower.
“Tomorrow…and after."
In which Lucifer heals Alastor, and they form a relationship of caring for each other's physical, mental, and emotional well being. Being soft with each other when they can't trust anyone else to be.
