Summary
Patrick Fitzgerald has always been an honest, hard worker. He's a successful businessman. In fact, he's in charge of his own real estate company, Fitzgerald Co. Limited. He has a nice house with a pool, a car, a wife and two daughters.
However, things immediately took a turn for the worse once he became associated (against his own will, mind you) with the least liked family in, well, all of Elmore, California. The Wattersons seemed to be an absolute mess. Being in the same town with them was enough. Things went from bad to worse once his eldest daughter decided quickly that she had eyes for the eldest child of the Wattersons. Gumball (which shouldn't even have been a proper name) seemed hopelessly in love with Penny, to the point where he immediately felt he had to 'prove himself' by sticking his oversized head into the business of her father.
One golf accident, one hospitalized 'apprentice' and one failed contract later, Patrick returned home from work.

She is also not blind and can plainly see that 1) all of Luz’s friends from “camp” have pointy ears 2) Ms. Clawthorne wears mismatched clothes twice her size and her “dog” actually talks 3) the brochure for their so-called school looks like it’s been scavenged from a kindergarten 4) all of them are absolutely flabbergasted by most human things 5) and less relevantly but very noticeably: the Amity Blight blushes an impressive shade of scarlet around Luz."
