They hadn’t told him, but Donnie had eyes. He could observe it. He wasn’t asking for thanks or open appreciation— he knew people only did that when they wanted something more from him or wanted to hurt him. Knowing they were content without him because of his actions was all that mattered.
(He missed praise. He missed turtle piles, and pizza weeks, and movie nights where they watched his favorites and actually engaged with them. He missed karaoke and DDR and biweekly Powerpoint nights where he deliberately picked the most moronic topic to rant about like a madman, just to revel in the sound of Leo shrieking with laughter.
And God, he missed S.H.E.L.L.D.O.N, so so much. Something had broken in him when he’d found his AI chip in the rubble, unsalvageable. Something about the grief of it all had made everything feel worthless. Even if he yearned for it—that didn’t really matter anymore, did it? It was gone.)
(or: in the middle of building their new lair, donnie is cursed. not wanting to slow himself down, he resolves to keep it from his family.

It was another ordinary day for Mirabel Madrigal. She got up, helped get Antonio dressed, and prepared to work herself to the bone and never get any thanks for it. Being the giftless Madrigal Mirabel has learned to run with the punches, but each day it gets harder and harder for her to put a smile on her face. Summary
The sublevel the live specimens are kept on requires security screening conducted by a pair of steely-eyed armed guards and one final ID scan at the door beyond them. There’s a bit of a hiccup with Leon’s badge not reading properly on the scanner, but you were there when it was printed, and you’ve worked at the EPF long enough that when you vouch for him, the guards let it slide.
He really wouldn’t have made it this far if he didn’t belong here, after all.

Summary
03! Donatello wakes up where he didn't fall asleep, and he immediately starts trying to get back home. He's delayed, however, when he stumbles upon Baron Draxum and his attempts at creating new mutants.
Donny doesn't like that, and promptly rescues the babies from what would have been a hard life.
But in doing so, he takes on the ever changing task of rasing four children without help, and the demons that may follow them.
