Summary
Gale Dekarios returns to Waterdeep after a decade long marriage that ended in him losing his job and good standing with the faculty at Baldur's Gate University, along with his reputation and home. He had spent his prime trying to please his ex-wife any way he could, only for her to throw him to the wayside for any young man that gave her the time of day.
Wanting to start anew, he returns to his home town, moving into his childhood bedroom that seems to be the only thing that hasn't changed in his absence.
Then an invitation gets posted through the door.
It's to the Caaraeilsaad Masquerade, a centennial masked ball held at the Silverhand estate, where masked Fae come to Waterdeep to look for their Soulmate.
Every Waterdhavian is told about the Caaraeilsaad Masquerade, and each one of them dreams of being one of the few to find true love.
Gale had never thought he would be one of those invited, and he knows he won't be one of those lucky enough to fulfil that dream. But he has to attend, he has no choice.
At least no one will recognise him with the mask his family has handed down for generations.
