At some point, she must have moved so she was laying pressed flush against you again, speaking into the back of your skull. Before you could begin to come up with a reply, you felt something twitch against your head where her eye would be.
Right.
“No.” You said honestly, your words beginning to slur as you succumbed to exhaustion, “I like this. You’re so warm. I still hate you, I’ve just… been slipping up lately.”
“You don’t have to hate me."
“Maybe not here,” you conceded, “but in real life…” you drifted off for a moment, watching the fireplace crackle and flicker, “this is the oddest dream I’ve ever had.”
