Summary
At 22, Diluc only has himself, his anxiety, and a pocket watch inherited from his father that sometimes distracts him from loneliness. Hovering between college and a shitty job, he barely ever rests, and whatever free time he has he spends hunting for the truth about his father’s death.
His life implodes when he is attacked by a strange beast on his way home from work. If it weren’t for Kaeya, a beautiful knight summoned from the past, Diluc would have been monster dinner.
Neither Diluc nor Kaeya know why Mondstadt is suddenly bustling with monsters that hunt adepts of magic, but one thing is sure: they can count on each other.

Summary

In the unexplored field of stellar fake-boyfriends, Kaeya checks all the boxes—and then some. There’s some burning violence in him, venomous hate running in the veins of his hands as he holds his claymore. Maybe it’s because he has convinced himself he’s a monster, by now.
Diluc’s jaw clenches. It’s not fair. He can’t go on like this.
He looks in the mirror one last time, before he leaves the room: all the self-hatred, the disdain and the pain must be kept locked in there. There is no reason to show them to the world. He doesn’t want to be a burden. He wants to be a helper.
