Aunt May isn't picking up.
She isn't picking up and Peter is crying, crying so hard it's breaking his entire body, shuddering and gasping and that sea of static is bringing him under, drowning him beneath the surface he's trying to break through. He's going to die, he's going to die beneath the waves and the tears and the hand clasped on his mouth is harsh, the air unable to get through his nose and to his lungs. The blood on his forehead is cold now, sticky and in his hair, his eyebrows and drooling down the side of his face. Aunt May isn't picking up and Peter is falling apart.
So, he calls the only person he has left.
He calls Mr. Stark.

Aunt May does her best to be supportive of her superhero nephew and Ned is always there to be his Guy in the Chair. Sometimes, it's still too much for Peter. When he thinks things can't get even more complicated, a villain inserts itself into the mix. When Tony Stark decides to awkwardly step in, he tries to help Peter understand that his own health needs to come before Spider-Man. Peter isn't sure if he agrees.

He smacks against a wall, and Wade needs to peel him off it- fucking Christ, this kid has a grip- eventually managing to coax him from attempting to climb up brick. Like that isn’t a head injury waiting to happen. And look, Wade’s not one to judge a book by its cover, but the way the guy’s dressed? He’s suspecting he doesn’t have health insurance. Tony narrows his eyes and turns the corner. Peter is splayed out on the third stair, in his Spiderman suit sans the mask, soaked to the bone. His hair is plastered to his forehead, he’s shivering, and he’s holding a gray cat clutched to his chest.
Tony stares at him. Both Peter and the cat are looking at him, wide-eyed, and then the cat meows again, breaking the silence.
