Aegon’s thoughts flee to the mock trial from earlier when this man - his father, the walking corpse that he is – dragged his rotting bones and flesh all the way from his kingly chambers to the throne room and allowed the entire court to ‘see him as he is’ – a decaying, pitiful sight for a King – to defend the Realm’s Delight; his darling daughter who can’t ever do wrong; the one he was willing to humiliate himself for, for whom he was even willing to die defending because Aegon knows, his father is hanging onto life as a spider does to a web – only until someone comes and, mercifully or cruelly, cuts it.
