Summary
Feeling flooded back into his body. His head throbbed mercilessly, skull heavy and aching. The light overhead scorched his eyes, forcing them to squint against the brightness. It didn't help that the world tilted again, spinning just as it had earlier that day, colors bleeding into one another as shapes warped and bent unnaturally.
His tongue felt thick. Uncooperative. His lips numb and sluggish. Blurred shapes crowded into his periphery. Darkness pressed in at the edges of his vision.
And then there was nothing.
OR; Will gets a concussion after hitting his head during The Crawl and Mike looks after him.

His mom and the Hawkins police chief don't find him where he was supposed to be a week later. The Demogorgon sure does though. Turns out, The Upside Down reeaaaally likes him: it won't let him leave.
Will Byers has been in backwards-Hawkins for 11 months. At least all the slugs he vomited up are coming in handy.

Will’s head turned then, slowly, and it was hard for Rose to understand how he still couldn’t actually see her, when it felt like he was staring straight through her eyes and directly to the back of her skull. “Rose,” he rasped, and her blood crystallized in her veins. This was not her father’s honey-sweet voice. It sounded like gravel running through a rock tumbler. And he never, ever called her just Rose, unless she was in big trouble. “You need to run. NOW.”
