Summary
“Who said I care about who you’re sleeping with?” Ashford asks quietly. I think I can smell his body wash. It smells like the sea and something familiar that I can’t place.
“I’d appreciate it if you could go back to pretending I don’t exist now.” I say, but the effectiveness of my glare is muted by how much I have to crane my neck to match his gaze. “I liked that more than whatever this is.” I gesture between our bodies and— shit. I didn't realize how close we'd gotten. I can feel a flush working its way up to my cheeks.
I shuffle backwards to create some distance and rebuild my neutral expression.
Riorsons don’t retreat. This is a tactical regrouping. Two very different things. Obviously.

Summary
It was four years ago, at the ripe age of nineteen—at the cusp of what would later be, unbeknownst to her, a bitter emergence into womanhood—that childhood friend now Fae foe, Feyre Archeron damned Clare Beddor and the last of the Beddor bloodline to their untimely deaths.
Save, Clare didn’t die. Instead, she was cursed to witness her home being pillaged and burned, her family perished in the raging flames. Instinct told her to surrender and meet that same fate. But the thirst for vengeance proved greater and prompted her to run. And run she did; all the way Under the Mountain wherein she was quickly roped into a land of unspeakable horrors.
Four years, a sweeping war, and a Cauldron later, nothing was the same. She had lost everything. Her family, her home, and now, against her will, her human body. Thereafter, she spurned her mortal name and cut ties with the Night Court, condemning herself to a life of isolation; finding some semblance of solace in that solitude.
That is, until whispers of a human queen and a fragile peace on the verge of unravelling begin to stir. And soon, the fate of Prythian rests in the hands of something young, so terribly beautiful—never again to be made gentle.
