Summary
Friday came and went without celebrations.
Erik was too busy with funeral preparations to even think about the lost anniversary, and truthfully, he preferred the way others pretended to forget it as well.
Even faked indifference was better than his friends' and family's pity thrown right at his face.
It wasn’t that their empathy was unwelcome, Erik was aware of their pain. He knew they had no ill intentions when trying to talk with him. It simply hurt too much to see the way they spoke to him in an overly soft manner now, or the way they looked at him with great sorrow, their gaze a confirmation of what he already knew: He truly looked as broken as he felt.

Or: Charles Xavier is dead, killed by Wanda Maximoff's alternate self, and now his husband is left alone to deal with the loss of his beloved and knowledge that it was his daughter who took his life.

Summary
Nowadays, there was a soft normality many could only dream of, a house in the suburbs, neighbors who didn't look at him as if he were a monster, children who visited him at least once a week, often bringing their own kids with them.
And, of course, there was Charles.
His gaze drifted towards the man, still buried underneath the sheets. Erik knew that in about half an hour, Charles' alarm would ring, waking him so that he could go to work. But for now, he slept peacefully, his eyes closed and his face relaxed.
He looked beautiful.

Or: The day Wanda dreamwalked into her alternate universe's self, seen by her father's eyes.
