“So,” Rolanda Hooch said, “Severus. I was just thinking-you really ought to meet my cousin Greta.”
Severus froze.
“She’s clever,” Hooch offered. “Wicked sense of humor. You two would get on famously.”
A terrible silence.
Severus cleared his throat with subtle panic. “Ah-no. Thank you. Actually….I-I’m quite-my time is quite fully accounted for, these days-in that regard.”
Hooch tilted her head. “Come now. You’re not seeing anyone, are you?”
“I-” He glanced, involuntarily, at Hermione. “I-am. Involved. Romantically. With someone.”
There was a beat.
“Someone who exists,” he added.
Minerva blinked at him over her spectacles. “Someone who exists?” she repeated neutrally.
“A very real,” he added quickly, “extremely tangible, real, live person.”
Flitwick let out a suppressed wheeze.
“And what’s their name?” Minerva asked sweetly.
Severus hesitated for a full beat too long. His mouth opened, but no sound came out.
Hermione bit into her orange slice with quiet, ravenous delight.
There was a long pause.
“Nelladina…did,” he blurted, then winced. “Curdle...Thwarple-Hatch.”

Summary
This is a revamp of a fic I posted on ff.net back in 2013, it was a birthday present for JennyBean23. I'm posting it here now because I'd like all my stories here, as this is now my primary posting place.
It is a short story, that cane be summarised as follows - Take one snarky Potions master, a Gryffindor witch with a liking for Slytherins, add in a Malfoy and a Potter both struggling with confusing feelings, and you come up with a well mixed couple of pairs who all see sides in each other they didn't expect. Very AU and definitely non-canon compliant.

The witch he once found a nuisance has somehow become a constant, and when she invites him to a symposium after reading an article of his, how is he to say no to pleading brown eyes? Once there, his thoughts become overly complicated. Also, why does Granger keep touching him?

Hermione Granger attends one of Hogwarts’ bi-annual staff parties. It is coincidentally also the tenth-anniversary celebration of the Battle of Hogwarts.
She’s found purpose as a professor, but life at Hogwarts can be lonely, and when memories of the Battle overwhelm her, she finds comfort in unexpected company.
One thing leads to another, and suddenly she's doing things she never thought she'd agree to.I wrote this for my friend ZaizaVika, and she was monumental in coming up with the idea of the story. Also inspired by her amazing work "Freak", so definitely go check that out.
