There’s something about her, from the way she stands lax and yet somehow alert leaning against the bar, to the sharpness of her red eyes (not burnt crimson-brown like dried blood, but true, burning, red). She smiles at him and her teeth look just a touch too pointed for a moment, her pupils just a bit too narrow, but it’s gone when he blinks, and she looks perfectly human again, albeit one with a strange choice in style.
“Well, detective?” she purrs, and something about the tone, the posture, gives the impression she thinks herself in control.

And that’s what this is. Irrational. The deep, aching longing to be recognized, really, truly seen for who he is beneath the layers and layers of masks, armor, walls he’s built up around himself. The way his heart seizes in his chest when he sees Kurusu Akira’s gaze pierce all those layers, even just for the briefest of instants, and still not look away.
