Summary
Mike is clinging to Hawkins, while Will is moving on in New York. An ocean of words remain unspoken between them, as they continue to drift farther and farther apart.
But all it takes is single horrifying phone call from Hawkins for Will to reunite the whole Party for a summer break back home, where together they hop on one last mission: to save their Heart.
And when the buried feelings inevitably resurface, this time, neither Mike nor Will have the strength to fight it.

Summary
In 1988, Will Byers moves back to Hawkins for his senior year. He'd left Hawkins, moving to California for his first 3 years of high school after living in Hawkins his whole life. In these 3 years, he didn’t contact his best friend he left behind in Hawkins, Mike Wheeler. Upon returning, he finds that they've both changed. A lot.
Along with reuniting with Mike upon his return, he witnesses something that changes his life. Something that causes a chain reaction of supernatural events, involving a mystery surrounding a missing girl, and a strange dream of a storm.
