Summary
It’s stupid. All these thoughts rattling in his head like a well-shaken Magic 8 Ball. All this obsessing about Chan—whether or not he’s hot (yes, definitely), whether or not he likes Felix (outlook not so good), whether or not he’s silently judging him (signs point to yes). It shouldn’t matter. Come Sunday, he’ll be on a flight back to Australia, a whole ocean away. No reason at all to be this worked up.
But just as Felix begins to fill his glass, he hears something.
And he feels it again. That knowing.
Felix is trying not to take it personally, but it just doesn’t make sense. He barely knows Chan, so why does it seem like the guy can’t stand the sight of him? Cold. Quiet. Chan won’t even look his way. Felix tells himself it’s nothing, that he shouldn’t care. But sometimes, when the room goes still, he swears he’s being watched.
The trouble isn’t that he might be wrong about Chan. It’s that he might be right.
