“Time is a precious commodity, Mr. Amicitia,” Ignis says flatly, “so I suggest we don't waste any more of it than is absolutely necessary.” He flicks Gladio a look of unfiltered disdain—payback for being late. “I'm sure you must have important abdominal crunches to be doing.”
The smile on Gladio’s face fades. His nostrils flare slightly—then, as though that response was a figment of the imagination, he's grinning again. Still, there's a certain satisfaction in seeing the other man rattled, even just momentarily.
“Well, I'd hate to keep you from cuttin’ Noct’s breakfast into bite size pieces, or foldin’ his pyjamas,” Gladio says.
Gladio and Ignis are drawn to each other, but for all the wrong reasons. This is... a problem.

“Well, you can’t sleep at the office for a month.” Gladio’s tone is firm, no-nonsense, but there's an inexplicably bright smile on his face as he folds his arms and looks at Ignis. “Come stay at my place.”
Ignis stares at him. It’s a kind offer, to be sure, but the thought of sharing his personal space with Gladio makes him nervous in a way he can’t quite articulate.
“I don’t know, Gladio,” he finally says. “I wouldn’t want to impose.”

I don't bloody care, Ignis thinks, eyes closed, thumb rubbing a soothing circle into his temple. The headache has deepened to the point where he can see his pulse throbbing a dull red behind his eyelids. All he wants in the world is for this meeting to end so he can sit in a dark, silent room and pretend nothing else exists but the void of his mind.
Ah. Yes. Ignis does, in fact, have several opinions on that topic, very few of which the council will appreciate hearing. Such as: Noct is an abysmal public speaker; Noct already has enough on his plate to cause him anxiety; Noct doesn't need to fumble the task in front of all the journalists in the Crown City and be made a mockery of on social media.
But he doesn't have energy to fight that fight, to be questioned about the prince's shortcomings and why Ignis hasn’t succeeded at correcting them.
Yes, this is Gladio's territory, but Ignis has known the man for so long that cooking together is nearly as natural as sparring with him or meeting him for lunch around the corner from the Citadel. He allows himself a small smile, a breath of relief, as Gladio's elbow bumps his own and a feeling of belonging settles over him.
