    Tally Craven, recently captured dodger, with her three year old sister in tow, comes in contact with the stoic General Alder upon her arrival at Fort Salem. Through her disregard for authority and fierce protection of her younger sister, she captures the general's heart - causing her to do things that she had only dared to dream of. To speak to someone freely, in a way the general had craved for roughly 300 years.

    Or, Tally strikes a deal with Alder so that her sister can stay on base. The three of them have dinner once a week to discuss the terms of their agreement. What starts off as a business agreement, turns rapidly into something more, as Alder finds herself falling for the powerful young woman and her scrappy, mischievous sidekick.
