We’re going to be late.” James huffed from where he was seated at his dressing table, narrowing his eyes at his husband in the mirror. He maintained eye contact for a few moments until Severus sighed and glanced away, absently straightening his (already perfectly straight) robes and smoothing down his tied back hair.

Summary
James wouldn’t mind so much, providing his husband (the love of his life) and his son (the light of his life) with comfortable mornings was a joy. Truly. But James also believed in fairness and reciprocity and he remembered when Severus had looked lovingly into his eyes, held his hands and vowed to cook everyday for the rest of their lives (mostly to ensure that the rest of their lives meant many years together instead of being cut short by untimely, food poisoning related deaths). James didn’t think that expecting his husband to remain true to his vows was too much to ask. Afterall, he had managed to honour his for every blissful second since he had shouted ‘I do’.

Ten years ago, Buck got a wrong number text message telling him Thanksgiving Dinner was at 4pm that year and not to be late. Buck replied saying that they had the wrong number and joked asking if he could still have a plate.
He got the reply, "Of course you can, I'll text you the address. I'm a cop, though, so no funny business."
That's how Buck became a yearly addition at the Grant Thanksgiving Dinner, four years before he chose to settle in LA. Four years before he started at the 118.

Because he loves tequila and hates the way beer tastes!”
“Ravi,” Buck says neutrally, but he’s trying to blow him up with his mind.
Ravi glares at him, and then understanding dawns upon his face. “Which I was not supposed to tell you about,” he blushes scarlet. “Point fifty-four. Right.”

Except Eddie was still smiling at his phone dazedly like the Cheshire Cat, so lost in joy, Joy, JOY, that the next thing Buck knew, Eddie was leaning in to kiss him briskly on the lips with an, "Alright, baby. Just lock up."
Buck froze. Dumbstruck as he stared after Eddie, who was distractedly rushing out the door.
"I'm sure Frank will set me straight. I'll be sure to let you know if I have any big revelations."
Or, Eddie has no idea he's shown his cards and Buck makes it his mission to get Eddie to allow himself to be happy.

Summary
The Zombie Apocalypse AU no one asked for.
It was The Walking Dead rules. Buck wouldn’t know, he’d never watched the show, but Chim had. A person dies, they come back, it doesn't matter how. By the time Buck knew about it, the phenomenon had been happening for almost a day. Bites were death sentences. The illness that wrecked the city for a week before things fell apart was a culprit.
Buck and Eddie are separated when the zombie apocalypse begins. Life turns into a pursuit of getting to Eddie and Christopher. He acquires a couple of children along the way.
They are very, very lucky.
