    Still half asleep, Ilya brings his other hand to rub up and down Shane’s left arm from shoulder to bent elbow. A tremor runs the length of Shane’s spine.

    “You’re shaking lyubimyy,” Ilya mutters, eyes still closed, “are you cold?” He pulls Shane’s body closer on instinct.

    A traitorous tear escapes the corner of Shane’s right eye, and he is helpless as he feels it track down his temple and onto Ilya’s chest.
