Orange and black tapestries adorned the tiny market stall, with the familiar etchings of Greek craftsmanship decorating vases and pottery that lined the back shelves. The inviting scents of honey cakes and fine wine filled his heart with a terrible ache of longing that forced him to look away. Greece was a land that he’d left far behind him, and he wasn’t ready to visit that grief now.

There was an unspoken rule amongst the regular hitmen and mercenaries and everyday assassins of the world: Gotham City was left to the idiots in colourful masks and costumes who liked to antagonize actual superheroes. If you were a typical black-ops-turned-blacker-ops ex-soldier trying to make your mark, you knew to leave Gotham hits to the likes of the real “villainous” mercenaries. Everyone knew that Gotham was a different beast, and if you weren’t anyone special, the Bat and his army of terror would eat you alive.

Someone put out a hit on Bruce Wayne, and for some reason he is really hard to kill.

The other League members don't know this is a problem because they have no idea Batman has kids, much less that Nightwing is one of them. Bruce decides to do the only reasonable thing: go on vacation. His children probably won't burn down anything too important.
Dick just wants to defend his family and brag about his siblings. Good thing his father taught him a few things about the importance of detailed plans and talented allies.

Bruce knows he’s not good. Well aware that he deserved what Alfred gave him when he was a child. But now that he has children of his own, Bruce can’t fathom disciplining them like he was.That doesn’t mean Alfred was wrong to inflict those punishments on Bruce. Bruce deserved it. Just not his kids.

For a moment, the train cabin is silent. Sally, absolutely mortified, prays to all the saints whose names she can remember that the vigilantes just decide to leave, but they instead sit there silently, staring at her granddaughter from behind their motionless masks.
Then, Nightwing swings around in his seat to pin Red Hood with an outraged look.

Clark . . . pauses, then looks up from the kid that he is currently pinning into the street as said kid struggles underneath him.
"'Hurt him'?" he asks in reflexive confusion, and then realizes how batting a teenager around like a person-shaped cat toy and pinning him to the street hard enough to crack it probably actually looks to an outside observer.
. . . um.
Whoops.
"Um," he starts awkwardly, and then the kid slips his pin while he's distracted and throws his arms around his neck with a gleeful laugh and a bright grin.
"Dad!" he crows triumphantly, and hugs Clark harder than literally anyone has ever hugged him before.
