Gascon has always found Meve to be a singular sort of woman. When faced with a difficult choice, she always finds a way to change the game and pick an unexpected, unprecedented option that reminds him of her earned queenship. Similarly, Reynard (Meve's loyal friend and advisor) is the most steadfast and honorable man that Gascon has ever met; it gives Gascon great pleasure to rile Reynard up just to see how far that patience and goodness goes. However, now that things between the three of them have hit a plateau, it is not often that Gascon finds himself surprised by them; he knows him, and they know him.
In matters of the heart, however, Gascon manages to be surprised by them still on one fateful, very drunk evening of respite and revelry.
(Set before the end of the game while still on campaign at a peasant's wedding feast)

By the time Reynard had gotten through the several types of ballistae and their failure points, he had also developed a sustainable, reliable truce with Gascon. Unfortunately it happened to require Reynard’s constant suffering, as he was being kept on that steady height of lust that was just shy of babbling incoherence. He couldn’t see a way out without conceding defeat, which he wasn’t about to do; he also didn’t imagine Gascon would just give up, and he could hardly contemplate getting satisfaction without Meve noticing, and they had a painfully long day of work ahead of them.

“That didn’t sound like nothing,” remarked Gascon. “Reynard, you look like a walking corpse.”
Reynard would do anything to win his queen's trust back. When he takes it too far, all three are left to work out where they stand with each other.

There were many places Meve would've suspected Gascon to be – but Reynard's tent certainly wasn't one of them. The conflicting feelings this causes her don't help either.
Meanwhile, her aides-de-camp struggle with similar emotional problems and no easy solution to them.[Rated E basically only for the final chapter, everything else is very tame/ implications only]

Jack has been having stirrings again, only this time they aren't about Angelica and they've been happening for longer then he's known her. As usual he goes to Gibbs for advice and the next thing he knows he's meeting a certain Irish captain at Tortuga.
