Summary
Jean shot awake, and held himself back from puking. He shook as he tried desperately to get the image out of his mind, but the more he tried the more it rattled throughout his mind. He grabbed at his head, hopelessly reminding himself where he was. Why were the emotions from this nightmare so intense? Jean held back tears as the world around him seemed to fall away. Finally, like a current of electricity through his brain, Jean remembered Marco’s bunk was right across from his own. He turned and reached his arm out towards the sleeping Marco, and he paused. Relief washed over him, and he slowly pulled his arm back, holding it tight by his chest. Finally, after fighting them for so long, the tears streamed down his face.
Marco was still alive, repeated in his head as the intense wave of emotions subsided. Jean’s breathing returned to normal, and his heart finally found peace. It wasn’t long before Jean realized how crazy he looked. He laid back in bed, but his nerves spiked at the thought of closing his eyes. He didn’t want to go through that again. He never wanted to go through that again. It had been unlike any dream or nightmare he’d ever experienced. Even still, the image of Marco’s corpse haunted him.

Summary
It's a curse to remember, but it's torture to be the only one who does.
One day, Jean wakes up, and it isn’t normal. It, his breathing, the universe, the way the world spins when he plants both feet on the floor and tries to haul himself out of bed. It’s the same feeling as being at sea for a long time and forgetting what it means to walk on land. Everything seems to sway, as if he can still feel the ebb and flow of waves beneath his feet, even though he has never seen the ocean in his life.
He remembers a different time, a different place, different people, and a different boy.
