"Feel what, Dante?" Nero asked, looking around.
"The silence." Vergil replied in his brother's place, alarmed since they arrived. "There are no demons around beyond several miles of us, but there is no noise either, no birds chirping, cicadas screaming, leaves moving, or wind noise."
With the previous petty argument, they paid no attention to this detail, but with the calm this conception fell upon them.
Nero finally noticed the change in the environment.

Noticing Luke writhing in pain on the bed, Aemond let go of his hand and walked over to hold the boy in his arms while he pressed the button to summon help. He was screaming for help, waiting for a nurse or doctor on duty who was walking down the hall to enter the room.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry..." Aemond apologized over and over again, sadness brimming in his voice.
The last thing Luke saw before his vision darkened was Aemond's desperate, remorseful face still asking for forgiveness.
At that moment, the darkness was welcome, as a sweet escape from this nightmare.
