Shadow Milk’s face darkened as he stared him down, “Do you mean to say that I love you? How foolish you are, Fool-King.”
Elder Faerie’s eyes hardened, as he heard Shadow Milk’s words. “No, I know that the Beast of Deceit can never love. But the man who I came to know is not the Beast, I know that for certain.”
Shadow Milk looked more amused than anything else now, as he tilted his head to the side. “You act as if whoever you’re in love with is real.”
Elder Faerie clenched his jaw as the words hit directly into his heart. “You act as if my love is any less real, just because you were pretending the entire time.”
“Oh, what a silly, silly thing to say, Faerie. Of course it’s less real. How can it be real, when the object of your affections is nothing more than a lie?” Shadow Milk asked him.
Elder Faerie had loved Shadow Milk once. Maybe he hasn’t stopped. But how can he convince the Beast that their love together was real when he had imprisoned him all over again?
