Summary
When Phoenix Squadron took their time to settle themselves into the nooks and crannies of Chopper Base on Atollon, Ahsoka pinged him through his private line.
“I need to pick your brain for this,” she told him over the comms a few days ago. “It’s not something I can explain here, but I can show it to you. Only if you’re interested in hearing more, that is.”
He hummed, scratching his beard as he considered her request. “A side quest, then?”
“More or less.” She smiled, propping her elbow on the armrest of the pilot seat to rest her cheek against her fist. “Well? How about it, Captain?”
One side of his mouth jumped into a tiny grin. “Give me thirty-six hours.”

Summary
“Who’s there?” The trooper gruffed out, effectively hiding his pain. Either he was that impressive, or he was still in shock to actually feel anything.
“Kix. Medic.” Setting aside his blaster, he shrugged the medpack off his shoulders before swinging it around for access, already taking out the emergency lamp he had with him before immediately switching it on. He gave a slight pause before swapping his infrared back to normal, where Kix met the trooper’s particular visor with his own. “Didn’t think you’d join me for a joyride down here, Commander Wolffe.”

“Sir?” ‘56 shakily asked, still climbing, still blindly following Ordo’s lead. "What's happening?"
“The Empire wants to take you back,” Ordo pushed out, ignoring the restless and wriggling tubie on his chest as he picked up the pace, silently hoping to all that was holy that the cadets would keep up. “But we won’t let that happen. I expect you to move, trooper.”

“Think faster and answer, or we’ll risk offending them.”
“How do you even answer this without offending them?” Ordo curtly retaliated.
“I’m sure other people would have jumped at the chance of being offered their hand in marriage by the local prince,” Niner mused dryly, letting Ordo’s tone slide.

Summary
From where they take refuge on an empty roof, the orange streetlights of Triple Zero catch the damp and unruly curls that hang over Mereel’s forehead—too long, too bleached—and he doesn’t brush them away when he’s busy cleaning up his toys. “Yours?”
He doesn’t elaborate. Ordo knows what he's talking about.
“Some,” He reached up with his fingers, wiping at his temple and pulling back dark, dark red.

“All I need is for you and Fives to be on the ship when we leave. That’s my condition.” He met Tup’s easy gaze, strands of curls flying between them from where Tup propped himself up. “Anything else? We’ll negotiate on the go.”
A smile climbed up Tup’s lips. “You’ll just argue your way through all your options until we’re on it anyway.”

“Why do you have to break into his datapad when I could have told you?”
Ordo seared him down with a look. “Would you?”
No, Fi wouldn’t. But that wasn’t the point. “Private and Confidential, Ordo. In some places, your snooping around is a crime.”
“Would you have told me that you turned into some kind of this specific undead?” Ordo pressed, knowing how Fi had tripped and fallen down the hole he had unwittingly dug on his own. “A blood-sucker, to be exact.”

“You said,” Rex hissed out under his breath, horrified and flabbergasted all at once. “He died.”
“I know,” Cody felt his insides twist into a slimy knot, his shoulder burning from when it almost got dislocated out of his body from forces he didn’t think were possible, not when said force was supposedly murdered. Cody saw proof. “And now we’re in a position where he obviously isn’t.”

Summary
“I didn’t fall.”
“Didn’t sound like it,” came Wolffe’s blasé reply from the doorway. His arms were crossed, the scratched greys worn on white plastoid were almost pointed and insistent, some kind of blasted tactic to gang up on him with Rex’s blues from where he stood near him.
Even if there wasn’t any sort of foreboding insistence to overwhelm him, Gregor took it as a chance to fix one mullish scowl at him.
Wolffe drilled his bionic eye back on Gregor. “You could’ve just told me you needed help. I would’ve gotten you out with Rex and have you settled in faster.”
“I’m fine,” Gregor huffed, already putting both vambrace and hand guards to the side to start on his rerebrace. “Worse things have happened.”
With the foreboding presence of the Empire breathing down their necks, there is comfort for those who seek it.

The last thing Mayday saw with ice crystallising his airways was Crosshair on his knees, desperation and haggard pain alight on his form.
The first thing Mayday’s eyes pried open to was the blurry face of someone by his bunkside, a very familiar scar running down the side of his face sharpening into focus.

“We blame Cody,” Ponds agreed, and Bacara almost fumbled when Ponds passed the sleeping tubie into his arms. “Hold him.”
“Why?” Bacara let out tightly, but swallowed his panic when the tubie stirred in his hold, where his little face rubbed sleepily against his chestplate. He regretted clipping his helmet to his belt when it took him immense effort to squash down his wince. “This can’t be comfortable for him.”

Summary
After taking the carton out of the conservator, Jesse dumped some blue milk into his hot cocoa. “You wanna tell me why you’re making tea just like hers?”
Jango pushed down the need to feel caught. Instead, he gave a noncommittal grunt. “The only way I know with this kind.”
There was a snort from the cubicle. Nax didn’t look up as he cobbled Coric’s dejarik piece with his own, a small and shrill screech jumping from the holotable. “I’m sure.”
They were trying to rile Jango up. Perhaps it would have been worse if all of them were here. Perhaps he would have been more successful in not biting that bait if he could have actually acted as if this interrogation wasn’t bothering him as much as it should have been.
Hard to, when he swore it was as if they just knew what exactly he was hiding behind his back.
Jango eyed Nax carefully, one hand still wrapped around the too-warm surface of the mug. “Care to explain?”

Summary
The indentation of this impromptu bunk was trooper-shaped. Niner could recognise the way those leaves were stacked on top of each other; it was strangely meticulous, but hidden away in the jungle’s natural way of things, as long branches hung over it as a crude curtain at a single glance.
Anyone who knew their worth would realise that this was constructed, and not a kind of arranged mutualism between growing greenery.
“He tends to be overly concerned with his work,” Boss answered, frank and far too casual, not looking away from their first prominent clue. Niner knew the need for instinctive control of his reactions; Boss wasn’t the only one who was a sergeant, after all. “Even when he keeps telling us it’s nothing.”
Present tense. Always.

Summary
Rex looked as if someone had shoved a plate of bad meat under his nose, his wince barely hidden as he stared at Howzer’s bowl.
Rude and ignorant. Imagine being left behind on the vast array of breakfast cuisine options.
Howzer reached for the small packet of butter from its little pile in the middle of the table, careful in avoiding knocking over the tower of jargon jam. “Good morning, Rex.”

Summary
Earlier that morning, when Rex pulled him to the side to quietly tell him to bring his pillow and blanket, suspicion rose up in him.
He immediately quashed that down before Rex could get a whiff of it and agreed. Cody then swapped whatever impending doom that had his heckles rising from such an innocuous request with the thought of that box of instant hot cocoa he kept for Rex.
