Summary
Laurent finds himself in the company of a talkative group of people. That all the men and women in that group have one very specific common denominator does not sit well with Damen.
“What kind of stories were you subject to?” Damen asks, trying to parse out how exactly he should feel about this conversation. He cannot even begin to imagine the amount of detail and tall tales Laurent had extricated from the group, he had been talking to them for so long.
“Informative ones,” Laurent says. “Colourful ones.”
“Clear exaggerations.”
“Bold ones about how you have a lot of prowess. And apparently quite the repository of bedroom talents.”
“You’ve experienced it,” Damen points out gamely, and Laurent hums in a contemplation that bodes trouble.
“I have learned that I have experienced a part of it,” Laurent says, his voice laced with mild distaste. “But not all. And that wounds me.”

Summary
Sex didn’t mean anything to Laurent. He liked it cheap and easy and often. No strings and no repeats. Except then there was Damen. Damen, who had a perfect boyfriend and a perfect life and would hate him if he knew what Laurent really was.
When things start to spiral and old habits start haunting him Laurent realises his comfortable apathy may not be enough anymore, but confronting reality and facing his demons just might shatter him completely. And he’s never been much good at putting himself back together.

Summary
The shadows did nothing more than highlight Laurent's steely grace, the knife sharp definition of his cheekbones, the devastating fall of his hair. Damen had the brief thought that even if they did somehow make it out of here without any permanent injuries, the memories of Laurent's face would scar him for the rest of his life.
"Why did you come here today, Damen?" Laurent asked.
To negotiate a truce with your organization and make my father proud, was the first answer that came to mind. It's what he should say—straight, to the point, with a bit of sentiment thrown in at the end in case the logical part didn't hit hard enough. The second answer came unbidden, and he kept this one quiet too: I wanted to meet the only other man as steeped in his own mythology as I was. I wanted look behind that facade to see if there was something in him that I recognized.
