Carla is falling apart. The weight of grief, guilt, and the betrayal of her own body is threatening to swallow her whole, and there’s nothing she can do to stop it. But Lisa — steady, patient, unwavering Lisa — is still here, holding her together when she can’t do it herself. In the dim glow of their quiet world, with whispered reassurances and the steady rhythm of a heartbeat against her cheek, Carla begins to let go. Maybe she doesn’t have to carry this alone. Maybe, for once, she can just be held.
This is my take on a possible continuation of the scene where Lisa Swain hugs Carla "I'm not scared" Connor.
