Summary
Dabi was a lot of things, but unfeeling wasn't one of them. He'd always cared far too much for his own good, and it'd gotten him burned time and time again. So, by the time that he became known as Dabi, he had put on an uncaring mask. Anyone that he cared about could and would be used against him, and Dabi was so very tired of being hurt.
He was also tired of fighting, but he knew that his fight was far from over. Dabi couldn't stop fighting until his siblings were safe. He promised that he would protect them, and he'd continue to do so from beyond the grave. Dabi would fight so that no more heroes got away with abusing their power. He would fight so that no more children would go through what he and his siblings did.
Dabi knew that the world didn't want to hear what he had to say, but he was no stranger to that. He'd target the root of their society's rot and sear it out, once and for all. He'd bring reform. He'd bring an end to a society run on child soldiers. He was willing to do whatever it took to protect these kids.
Dabi was a lot of things, but a big brother was probably the most important of them all.

Hawks saw this assignment for what it was: An opportunity. He’s been going around in circles trying to find a way to escape, and everything leads to the same thing: recalibration training at best, and a slow death at the hands of the commission at worst. They are not expecting him to survive, he just needs to play that to his favor. He has never given the Commission a reason to doubt his loyalties, he can’t afford to unless he knows he’ll come out on the other side. So until then, he'll keep pretending everything is fine, that the food he eats doesn't taste like saw dust, that everything isn't dull around him and that he isn't so achingly lonely that he would do just about anything to feel like he belonged.Series

“Do you have to leave?” Izuku asked quietly.
“Yeah. I can’t be around you,” Hisashi sighed. “I’m bad luck or something.”
“Oh,” Izuku said quietly, looking at the ground sadly.
“But it’s fine. You have your soulmates,” Hisashi reminded her, pointing at her arm. Eight bands of black and white flowers circled her arm, from wrist to elbow. It was a lot of bonds but that just meant that she’d have more people to love her.

Midoriya Izuku doesn't want to meet any more of his soulmates. Not after the first one he met in middle school broke their bond, burning away their flowers. There was no way his soulmates would accept him. Quirkless, abandoned, and broken.
When he winds up being fostered by one and in the same class as a few others, will he be able to keep them away and shut them out of his life? Does he still want to?
