His body may have been covered in baggy clothes, a deep blue t-shirt and some well-worn jeans, but he could just about see the bump of his chest poking out like two sore thumbs.

“Will, Will listen to me!“ Mike shakes Will out of his crying, the low sobs covering the silence “I just want to know why you did it, why you destroyed this place“ Mike wonders how come Will has taken no hesitation in destroying this place, his safe haven. And Mike has been fighting the itching curiosity from climbing over his confused heart.

Mike‘s book becomes famous and he has to go on a tour - one of the destinations being New York where Will Byers lives.
Lucas somehow convinces Mike to ask Will if he could crash in his place, Will agrees and is suddenly nervous about Mike meeting his boyfriend Carlton.
After some problems while Mike stays there, Mike prompts Will to visit Hawkins and rebuild Castle Byers. Questions issue in the process and bottled up feelings are being set free. -

“You– you kissed me,” He murmured, before bringing his free hand up to his mouth and tracing his bottom lip in awe. Mike had never seen anything more attractive.
“Is that… okay?” Mike tried. Will’s gaze had been far-off, not quite focused, like he was stuck in his mind. Now it locked onto Mike’s with intent. Mike resisted the urge to shiver.
“Why?” Will asked.
“Because,” Mike breathed, heart in his throat, “I like you, Will. A lot. God, so much. The most. Uh– romantically, obviously.” He stuttered, blushing profusely. Will was still gawking at him.
“You…” Will began, cogs whirring behind his eyes. “You like guys?”
Mike jerked back, looking away.
“Um. Well, I like you. And you’re– uh,”
Will shook his head suddenly, hand coming up to turn Mike’s face back towards him.
“Fuck, sorry, ignore me, just– just a shock,” He let out a sort of breathless laugh that Mike wanted to preserve forever. Will’s eyes flicked obviously down, before meeting Mike’s gaze again. Mike swallowed. “I like you too,” Will murmured. “Romantically,”_________________
Or, Mike finally kisses Will. He's far more enthusiastic than Will had prepared for.

Will froze. Mike sung the last word with everything he had, almost screaming it. He closed his eyes and leaned into the mic as he did so. Will couldn’t tear his eyes away in time before Mike caught him staring and smirked. Fucking smirked. Will turned scarlet.

Ever since Mike had come to California and Will had to watch as he completely bypassed his so called ‘best friend’ and instead paid attention only to El, kissing her so often it was almost as if he knew what it did to Will. But it was there. In the stolen glances from opposite ends of the room, in the fleeting touches - Mike’s hand on the base of Will’s neck, gently guiding him forwards, or Will going to pass Mike something, but neither pulling away soon enough for that to be all it was - and in the longing gaze Will couldn’t help but direct at Mike, the same look he had almost thought he’d seen reflected in his best friend’s own eyes.”
