Then Ann sees the smallest of nods followed by Kuina’s smile, and for just a second, it feels like Ann’s heart stitched itself back together. The privilege of meeting Kuina and seeing her smile is the one good thing out of all of this. For that, Ann thinks she can forgive this world just a little bit.
Then Ann feels it. This is it. She’s slipping away and this time, there’s no coming back. How unfortunate.
In a better world than this, Ann thinks she could have spent a lifetime loving Kuina.
