Dennis Whitaker has always been good at not-thinking about things. The way Robby says Abbot's name. The current in a room when both of them are in it. The fact that he has, apparently, developed feelings for not one but two attendings, which is a disaster by any reasonable metric.
Then Abbot comes back from three weeks away, finds Dennis alone in the break room at three in the morning, and answers the question Dennis didn't mean to ask out loud.

His new Papa hadn’t smiled at the name change, instead dropping one of those large, scarred hands over his curls and planting a small kiss on Denny’s head, keeping his back straight.

Summary
Everything is fine. Everything is absolutely peachy fucking keen.
When the night shift calls Dennis in a few hours early, he goes without complaint. He knows how miserable a shift can get without enough hands on deck. But lack of sleep slowly starts to catch up with him.
Dennis Whitaker does not faint. That would be embarrassing. He’s on the floor for perfectly reasonable, perfectly respectable reasons. He does not need a banana bag. He does not need the day off.
He just needs a little bit of sleep.

Or: Dennis has a bad day at work. Robby has Jack pick him up to babysit him at his and Robby’s apartment until Robby gets off shift. When Dennis still can’t force himself to sleep, his Attendings take it upon themselves to tire him out.
