Chuck is staring at Cas too. They all are. Chuck’s eyes actually pop, nearly bulging, the surprise in his face tinged with something like rage.
“You!” he snaps. “You’re not even in this story, your part is long over. Why aren’t you dead? This isn’t even about you, it never was! Why, in my own damn name, aren’t you dead?”
Cas takes two steps forward.
“Good question,” he says, his voice all gravel, and swings Death’s scythe down in one long arc, lopping off Chuck’s head.

Summary
Zuko had never excelled at anything. Azula was a prodigy. Uncle always knew what to say. And Father... Father was strong, iron-like. But Zuko had only ever been good at surviving. Putting one foot in front of the other in a grim show of stubborn determination, gritting his teeth and bearing it. Survival was all he had ever been taught. He knew how to do it. So when he was kidnapped by the Southern Water Tribe, he expected to fight as he always had. He didn’t expect to be taught instead how to live.
In a warring land, the Water Tribe forgave the enemy in an act of defiance. For this, he was torn from them, and this time, his wounds won't heal so easily.
Forced back into nothing but survival, the last person Zuko expected to see was Hakoda's son. Hakoda was a promise of safety. The relentless blue of Sokka’s eyes was a promise of happiness. Zuko could have both if he just reached out his hands, but he found them clutching into fists. After all, he’d been burned one too many times.
But hey, at least between Hakoda and Sokka, Zuko could appreciate the family resemblance of pure, asinine stubbornness.

This was supposed to be an easy night hunt. They left Wei Ying at an Inn, and wanted to be back before sunrise. Instead they find themselves at the door of Lotus Pier, in the middle of the night, wounded, and their son, their beautiful son, injured.
Things did not go as planned. Maybe, because, it is time to change their plan. Maybe it is time to stop wandering, to stop running away from the man they hurt, maybe it's time to heal.

Summary
When Stede Bonnet was carefully carved out of bits of the finest enchanted Brazilian cherry wood, he allowed Geppetto to put on a show with him, dress him up and parade him about a bit, dangling from bits of string and lace, tottering about the world in a perverse imitation of a real boy. And when that stupid fucking cricket that lived in the walls of his Barbados estate whispered to him and told him to behave, to smile through his pathetic (pathetic) puppet life, what did Stede Bonnet do? Why, he took a hammer and smashed the fuck out of that cricket. Cricket annihilated. Bonnet out.
The story hasn’t ended though. It’s time for him to be swallowed by that great sea-beast, only to be spit out into a new life with the only person who can break the spell. The first problem now is that the only one who can allow him to feel a real human heartbeat thudding in his no-longer wooden chest is more likely to stop that beating forever. The second problem is that for the first time in his life, he knows exactly what he is.

Summary
[Sokka is five when the first mark appears.
It writes itself in a deep red like a wound, as if someone had carved the word “nonbender” in a messy font across the knuckles of his left hand, as if it was handwritten with a knife.
When he asks his mother, as she applies salve on Sokka’s knuckles, she sighs deeply and says nothing for a few moments.
“Sometimes, spirits don’t make much sense.”
Sokka has yet to turn thirteen when he wakes up screaming in pain, about ten soulmarks all over each other between his left shoulder and his ear, red and vivid like burning flesh. Among the few words that are somehow possible to read out of the disastrous scribbling, “disrespectful” and “coward” and “burned” and “sorry sorry sorry” are the ones that stand out the most to Sokka. He thinks, at the tender age of twelve, whoever did this to his soulmate will be sorry too, one day.
A month after Hakoda leaves him with the job of the protector at the age of thirteen, Sokka realizes, with a bitter taste in his mouth, that he’s got more soulmarks than his entire village combined.]
Or, to have a soulmark is to carry the vilest things that your soulmate believes about themselves on your skin.

To be confronted by complete silence after such a display was not the entirely expected consequence of his actions, yet, now that he pauses to think about it, he was supposed to be here well over an hour ago for some very important and critical meeting Kunikida had scheduled (on very short notice he might add). He’d had every intention of appearing on-time, a spectacle which may actually have rendered Kunikida speechless, so rare an event would it have been. Yet, as always, life – or his decided lack of interest in its continuance, to be more precise – ever has it’s own ideas.
