Aerion sat on a low root across from him, arms folded. “Doubt it. You are the dullest man I know.”
“Then why come sit by me?” There’s no bite in his voice.
Aerion paused. He had no answer that didn’t sound childish. And he’s a dragon he doesn’t need to answer anything let alone him. His lips pouted a little as Silence stretched between them, filled only by water and wind through leaves.
Dunk dipped his feet deeper into the river. “You shouldn’t be walkin’ around like this. You’re still hurt.”
Aerion bristled. “Since when you tell me what to do and not? I’m am no porcelain doll.”
“Sorry didn’t mean it like that.”
“You meant it.” Aerion narrowed his eyes.
Dunk met his gaze steadily. “I meant I don’t like seein’ people hurt. Even people who don’t like me.”
Aerion looked away, jaw tightening. “You are infuriating.” Look at him, being an idiot all over again. He pulls his clock to adjust that was perfect from the start.
Or, Aerion sneaked out at night and unexpectedly meet Duncan by the river side. They talk, they fought again and things lead to something else.
