Society could never know how much Trust value affected the everyday life of their heroes, Smile could understand how disastrous that would be.
No, he wouldn’t change society’s ignorance, but he would have liked for the Hero Agencies to give a warning to the new rising heroes, who still were at the start of their career, to be very, very careful with how they branded themselves. Smile still flinched every time he thought about Firm-man’s side effects for too long.
Aka: The young hero was starting to struggle, considering the way Nice clung to Smile’s forearm like he wanted nothing more than to pull him into a hug and hide from the world at large. Considering his brand had him presented as the ‘perfect hero’, Smile wasn’t too surprised. He didn’t want to even imagine the kind of pressure that was placed on those young shoulders.

Season 1 spoilers! Final installment of the trilogy.
The Commission is closing in. And Fate is tightening the noose around his neck. X has no choice but to stick to the same flimsy strategy he's been following this whole time—feign apathy. Throw away his civilian life and pretend nothing in the world mattered to him so the forces controlling the heroes in the Tower can't get a grip on him.
It's not a solution—only a stopgap. He can only buy time as he waits and observes the other heroes trapped in Fate’s web, searching for an opening.

“What’re ya talking about?” Yoshiki squints against the blinding snow through his bangs. The snowfall is thin and wet. It’ll probably be gone by tomorrow, but the cold seeps into Yoshiki’s core. Winter has come early this year.
It’ll have been a year soon. So soon. Just a few more weeks.
Time refuses to stop, more of a monster than anything else Yoshiki has encountered.
Or: Yoshiki grapples with whether or not “Hikaru” has the autonomy to truly love him if his companionship is the result of fulfilling a wish.

Yoshiki doesn’t respond to that, though he’s sure the bright red of his cheeks is indication enough of what he’s hiding. In an effort to ease his nerves, he moves to pull his hand away, but ‘Hikaru’ catches his wrist.

It’s a question that forces him to look at himself, at what he’s feeling, and decide what other people want to see and what’s too ugly to reveal. It’s exhausting. Can’t Hara-sensei tell just by looking at him? Can’t he tell Hikaru doesn’t want to wake up most mornings? Can’t he tell that it’s wrong, that Hikaru shouldn’t be the one standing here? Or is Hikaru really that good at tricking others into not looking that closely at him?
It’s what he’s done his entire life, after all. Only one person even tried.
After the death of his best friend, Hikaru tries to fill the space he left.

Yoshiki kept his head down and stared at his clasped hands, struggling to stay present. The 5:30 morning train to the prefecture’s capital had been the earliest one they could find.
“Hey,” Hikaru whispered from beside him, “you think this plan will work?”
Yoshiki frowned, pressing down on his knuckles with his fingers. Despite wearing a long sleeved shirt, his newest gnarly scar was clearly visible on his hand, covering most of it. He still couldn't get used to it. “If it doesn’t, we’re both as good as dead, so…”

When the mysterious company makes a move against Hikaru, he and Yoshiki are forced to flee Kubitachi, becoming a part of a plan that isn't even their own. Blindly putting their trust in Tanaka and accepting his help, the two run off to Tokyo. Things don't go how they expected. Both boys are forced to survive in an unknown environment as Hikaru is being hunted, keeping secrets from each other (and themselves) while struggling with inner turmoil.
Underneath it all, what keeps them going is their quest for acceptance and understanding.
