He hears Mike take a slow inhale, then on a somewhat shaky exhale, says, “What if you’re wrong? What if – we’re not friends?”
“What?” Will asks, heart falling through the floorboards and landing somewhere in the Upside Down. This is it, then. This truth he told Mike is the end of their relationship as he knows it.
He’s just lost his best friend.
Mike grimaces, shaking his head a little. He hesitates, cheeks turning pink before he speaks again softly, but no less sure of himself. "No, wait, that's not what I meant. I meant like. . .more than friends. Not – not just friends.”
Will comes out to Mike in a back room of the Squawk, alone. It goes much better than expected.

Summary
Will’s worst fears came true in the visions Vecna showed him. That his own personal hell, the absence of people he longed for, was caused by his own hand. The first time it was him taken from everyone else. This time, it was him having driven everyone away or else drifting apart like he didn’t matter anymore. Both times he’d been utterly powerless to stop it.
But he could take back some of that power - by handing it to someone important on the hope they’d hold it for him to use when he needed. He couldn’t let his own fears get the better of him, nor let Vecna be proven right. Not anymore.
OR: Will comes out to the people that matter the most to him. A rewrite of the scene at the end of s. 5, ep. 7.

Summary
Arriving at Downton brought with it feelings Thomas hadn’t expected. He’d anticipated a roiling of nerves in his gut at returning to the place he’d called home for so long. He anticipated a sense of pride to be the one showing Guy and Noël into the place – even if they insisted on following him in through the kitchens.
But he hadn’t anticipated the ghosts of his own loneliness to follow him through the door as well. For all that had happened here, he did not relish the squirm of his gut at all the pain and rejection and misunderstanding he’d endured over the years.
OR: Thomas, Guy, and Noël are invited to a dinner at Downton, and Guy suggests going a few days early to sightsee. Along the way, Thomas revisits his past in more ways than one. The missing moments of Thomas’ story in the third movie that deserve to be given a spotlight.

She was pretty, Fenna. She didn’t even know it but she was, with her round face, bright eyes, a smile that always looked on the verge of laughter. And her body. . . despite the horrible circumstances under which she’d seen it with all its as yet unexplainable injuries, she was beautiful. Fenna’s smile didn’t fade as the seconds ticked past and Kristen wondered, then, what kissing her would be like.
Maybe it was just all the drinks from before, or the way they’d spent the better parts of her very bizarre day together, but Fenna had a brightness unlike anyone she’d seen before and a big part of her longed to share that. She was more than what Kristen thought she was, hidden away here in this silent monastery. There was something in her she ached to bring to the surface - a beautiful and bubbly woman inside that quiet shell. But who was Kristen to drag her out of that if that wasn’t what she wanted? Looking at her now, though, she knew without a doubt that wasn’t the only thing Fenna wanted.
OR: Kristen spends the night in Fenna's room instead.

“We aren’t getting a tree, Ava.” Beatrice said with an air of finality, crossing her arms.
“But why not?”
“One, we can’t afford it. Two, where would we even put it? There’s not much room in here, in case you haven’t noticed.”
“What if we move the tv and put it there? In the corner?” Ava gestured generally behind her to where their small, ancient television sat on a small table in the far corner of the room in front of the couch.
“No.”
“Not even a small one? Like, Charlie Brown Christmas tree kind of small?” Ava pleaded, skipping the few steps over to Beatrice and winding her arms around her waist. “Please?”
OR: Ava and Beatrice spend Christmas in Switzerland, navigating decorations, Christmas traditions, and baking cookies while trying not to burn the apartment down.

After the Battle of Brunanburh, Uhtred is severely injured. He wants Osbert to look after Aethelstan, but the damage he has caused is not just skin deep. Will Osbert accept an oath to Aethelstan, or has the Young King pushed his subjects a little too far? Will Aethelstan cope without either of his fathers by his side?
OR
The fix-it fic to fix all of the problems that Aethelstan caused in Seven Kings must die.

Summary
A remarkable "braided novel" of 8 stories and novellas which Macedon wrote in tandem with the equally remarkable Peg Robinson. Too sprawling (in the grand sense) in scale and reach to reduce to a mere synopsis; let us just say that this is Voyager unfettered and red in tooth and claw, such as Paramount with its nice tidy pander-to-the-demographics mentality could only dream of producing. Faith, community, alienation and belonging, honest conflict between Maquis and Starfleet, and the realities of life far from home and safety. These are just a few of the things Macedon and Peg handled with discretion and grace.
From Macedon: I recently learned that my friend of many years, Peg, passed away in her sleep September 3, 2024. If you were or are a fan of the Talking Stick series and Peg's fiction, please think softly on her and light some sage or tobacco in her memory for the wonderful stories she gave to us.
