Summary
When Caitlyn’s brain breaks, it happens in front of the entirety of Runeterra. The eyes of the world are on her. On her and her coaches and her skating partner. Maybe that pressure is part of her sudden loss of self control, nerves and excitement manifesting in a strange new way.
But mostly, it’s Vi.
Vi sitting beside her in the kiss and cry, absolutely glowing. Vi, smiling wide enough to crinkle her eyes and show off all her teeth. Vi, glistening with sweat and glitter. Vi, blue-gray eyes brimming with tears of happiness.
Vi, Vi, Vi.

Summary
“Hey.”
Caitlyn was a highly-decorated officer who’d dealt with the worst criminals Piltover had to offer. But in that moment, an unexpected voice from her blindspot made her jump.
A strong, gentle hand touched her arm. “Shit, you okay, Sheriff?”
“Vi.” Caitlyn tried to look as though she wasn’t having to compensate for a sudden 55% vision loss. As though she wasn’t standing with her back to the counter so no one else could sneak up on her. “You startled me.”

Summary
Alec took off his mask to raise an eyebrow at Magnus. “You’re tired of a party? Are you sick? Do you have a fever? Come here, let me check.”
"I'm never tired of a good party. However…”
Alec’s spine tingled, which was something he hadn’t known spines could even do, as Magnus backed him against the nearest wall. A hand found Alec’s hip, thumb slipping under the edge of his shirt to rest against his skin.
“I’d rather do this,” Magnus murmured, yanking Alec in by the lapels of his jacket and kissing him like he’d been dying for it.

Summary
“Vi? I thought you were going to visit Ekko.”
Caitlyn’s voice calmed something in Vi, even as she hurried to wipe at her damp cheeks. "I got distracted. It snowed last night.”
Caitlyn barely paid the snowy yard a single glance before focussing her keen eye on Vi. “Have you just been standing out here?” Her fingers brushed Vi’s cheek. “You’re freezing."

Summary
“Prove it,” Vi challenged, drawing her eyes back to Caitlyn’s.
“How?”
The frantic thump-thump-thump of Vi’s heart in her chest told her what she was about to do was foolish and reckless, but it wasn’t like she had a lot of options. If she wanted to have even a chance of surviving this, she had to do something. Even if that meant giving a vampire the benefit of the doubt.
“Bite me,” Vi said, which was something she had said before, but never so seriously. “Feed off me, and then let me go.”
Caitlyn looked offended again. “I’m not going to bite you.”

Summary
Vi twirled the ginger in her hand the same way Caitlyn tended to twirl pistols and pens. Clearly a habit Vi had picked up from her. Caitlyn wished she'd used any other prop. "Wanna talk about what happened?"
"We ran into my ex. Unfortunate, but it does tend to happen from time to time." Caitlyn turned her attention to washing and chopping the broccoli.
"And the ginger stuff?"
"Maddie thinks she's funny."
Vi hummed as she washed the ginger root. "So... you haven't tried it?"

Summary
Perhaps it was because she hadn't eaten anything substantial in nearly twenty-four hours that the flavors bursting across Caitlyn’s tongue outshone anything else she'd ever tasted. The tentacles weren't slimy at all, but nicely crisped and slathered in thick, citrusy sauce.
One bite quickly turned to two and then three and then more, until the bowl was empty.
When the distraction of flavor subsided, Caitlyn was forced rudely back into herself. She once again became aware of her presence in the midst of a crowd of gossip-loving aristocrats that wouldn't hesitate to whisper about the subpar manners of the young Kiramman scion. How long would it take for her mother to learn she’d been slurping up tentacles?

Summary
Magnus takes a deep breath, hoping it will settle his nerves. It doesn’t. He exhales and says, “I’m asexual.”
After a slight pause, Alec nods and reaches across the blanket until his hand finds Magnus’. “Thank you for telling me.”
Surely it can’t be that easy. It’s never that easy.

Summary
“I didn’t go in, but everyone else did. Her beauty entranced them, I think.” Claggor, usually immune to feminine charm, went a little starry-eyed. “Maybe she’s a daughter of Aphrodite.”
“Claggor,” Vi ground out. “Get to the point. Where are our men?”
“We found a house just past the woods. She invited us in, said she had food to share. Only I stayed outside to keep watch. I think the food she gave them was cursed.” The color drained from Claggor’s face. “They ate, and they started… squealing. She— she turned them into pigs. All of them.”

Summary
“This wasn’t demons,” Magnus says, examining the shape of the slash even as his magic knits it back together.
“The Circle.”
Gold eyes flash as Magnus’ jaw tenses. “Of course it was.”
Alec reaches out with his cleaner hand, misses Magnus’ face by an inch, and readjusts until he finds Magnus’ check. “It’s okay. They’re dead now.”
Magnus presses a kiss to Alec’s palm before studying his wing. He joins Alec on the couch, knee resting against Alec’s thigh as he heals him. The touch is nice, but so far from enough. Alec wants to spend all night with his body pressed tightly to Magnus’. He wants to shift into his dragon form just so he can be small enough to curl on Magnus’ chest between his skin and shirt.
“All healed,” Magnus announces, setting his hands in his lap. “Unless you have any wounds I don’t know about?”

Summary
Caitlyn checked her surroundings before pushing backward, sliding her right rollerskate in front of the left: once, twice, three times. Knees bent, she stepped out at a ninety-degree angle to face forward, seconds from launching herself into the air.
The second her foot left the ground, something hit her with the force of a semi-truck.
Caitlyn was on the ground before she could process what had happened, pain lancing up her hands and knees, her protective wear sliding uncomfortably against her skin.
A riderless skateboard rolled past.
It was always a skateboarder.
