Summary
“And you’re sure there’s nothing for you?” David says suddenly. “You’re not—you’re feeling okay? You’re not sick? Shane wouldn’t have any reason to think that you’re sick?”
Ilya blinks and turns to him. “I am fine. Totally fine. Better than fine, even, before today.”
“It’s just—Shane’s acting like you’re dying, Ilya.”
“Not as far as I’m aware,” says Ilya. “And I do not think he would learn this before me.”
—
The summer before Ilya joins the Centaurs, Shane wakes up nervous. It doesn't stop from there.

[excerpt]
His whole body practically vibrated with how hard he held himself together as he walked out of the club and to his car. His hands shook as he drove off, but it wasn’t long before he had to pull over—the tears he’d been holding back finally breaking free.Fuck Ilya Rozanov. Fuck him for making him cry. He was Shane Hollander, hockey superstar. Stanley Cup winner two years in a row. And there he was, sitting alone in his car, crying over an obnoxious Russian hockey player.

Summary
He drives to the airport with an unshakeable urge to pull over and turn around. He smokes four cigarettes in a row before he boards the plane, then chews an entire pack of gum on the flight to try and cover the worst of the smell.
He exits the airport half-hoping that Shane has chickened out of the whole thing. Then he spots him, tapping his fingers against the steering wheel in the most boring suburban dad car Ilya has ever had the misfortune of laying his eyes on, and he’s so happy to see him that his legs feel unsteady beneath his weight.

Summary
When Shane starts the document, it makes sense to him.
Later on, when it’s published onto a hundred different gossip sites with hundreds of comments dissecting every word, it looks insane.
It starts because Shane has no one to talk to about everything. He’s never even kept a journal. He balks at the thought of getting a therapist. It’s not like he’s going to risk writing it down physically for someone to find. The only logical way that Shane can think of to deal with his feelings is to open up a blank Google Docs page and start writing.
or Shane decides to write down all his feelings instead of talking to Ilya. After years of writing about their relationship, the entire document gets leaked online.

Summary
Shane is stooped over to strap on his shin guards when his phone buzzes once in Hayden’s hand.
He doesn’t mean to tap the notification.
And oh god, does he wish he could un-tap the fucking notification.
Because why the fuck has Lily, Shane’s mysterious Boston hook-up of several years (no matter how fervently he denies it), sent him a picture of a fucking sonogram.
Black and white, blurry, and undeniably baby-shaped.

Ilya makes a joke, Hayden breaks Shane’s phone, and a comedy of errors ensues.

Summary
Bokuto was normally incredibly confident, and often impulsive. He was the type to run headfirst into a battle without a single thought. Always so positive about everything. Kuroo certainly didn’t know him to be someone this negative.
But whenever one Akaashi Keiji was involved, the son of Zeus could never find it in him to be confident and assertive. He can’t lie-at first, Kuroo found it incredibly entertaining to see him stumble over his words in front of the other boy. But after years of witnessing his embarrassment firsthand, it was just straight up painful.
Bokuto would rather spend his days pining over the boy than actually ask him out, and therein lies the problem.
Kuroo would like to say that he wanted so badly to be a good friend and lend him an ear whenever he’d need it, but honestly, he was this close to walking over to Akaashi, tell him ‘Bokuto likes you’, and see where it goes.
His longer-than-normal patience was dwindling to nothing. He needed to do something, and fast.
Or "the three times Bokuto Koutarou tried to woo Akaashi Keiji, and the one time he didn’t have to".

Summary
Akaashi seized the chance and jerked the steering wheel hard to the left, sending Bokuto crashing against the passenger door. He wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. First rule of car safety. Akaashi’s own gun was on Bokuto before the latter had a chance to recover. “You are not the one who kills me.” Akaashi spoke quietly as he pushed the barrel of his gun against the crease between Bokuto’s eyebrows.

Summary
The bodies around him launch upright, breaking out into uproarious applause and cheers. Their adoration is loud and monumental, but it is nothing compared to the growing feeling in the pit of Akaashi’s stomach. Bokuto raises his hands at the crowd, and even though they are so far away from each other, Akaashi knows that Bokuto sees him. Can feel the challenge in his eyes, in his posture, in his smirk.
Watch me.
It’s not like Akaashi ever had much of a choice.
(or, Akaashi really loves to see Bokuto in his best shape)

Summary
At this point in time, Bokuto is yet to learn that Akaashi’s face brightens with the ghost of a smile whenever he makes a silly remark. He’ll find out eventually that he needs to look out for these moments; to capture these pieces of luck instead of waiting for them to come to him.
It’s fleeting, and his face settles into its usual listlessness, but the split second of light that flares across his face makes Bokuto think of shooting stars, dragging all his wishes to the tip of his tongue.
They settle there, heavy and demanding—a perplexity of emotions he hasn’t learned to name.
(Not yet, anyway)

Summary
It’s five hours from Tokyo to Sendai. It’s five years from Fukurodani Academy to the Black Jackals. It’s five sets between win and loss and five seconds to miss that final point. It’s five; the number of Fukurodani’s vice-captain and setter for one blinding, beautiful year. It’s five; like an identity branded into his heart, the only number that holds any meaning for him. Black and white and gold.
“You always pick five,” Udai muses in the wake of the staff betting pool. Akaashi’s not even sure what they’re betting on, aware that his final deadline to have the latest manuscript submitted is in five days.
“Five is a good number.”
It’s five years since Akaashi watched Bokuto step into the light of the future and five years since he last set a volleyball into the air on centre court. It’s been five years, and in not one of them has he forgotten what it felt like to stand beneath the trajectory of a shooting star.

Summary
I captured this brief moment in my mind and replayed it countlessly in my memories. I cherished a smile that happened for less than a second and then never again but oh, how lovely it was. In the prettiest time of spring, I could not take my eyes off him: the strange phenomenon of stargazing in daylight.
Amidst stealing paintings and smoking his life away, Bokuto comes to realise that neither of these give him what Akaashi Keiji can.

Summary
Bokuto Koutarou is too much, all the time. Too much when he sends Keiji one of his victorious smiles after a solid spike. Too much when his hands work out a kink in Keiji’s muscles during lunches they eat with just each other, now. Too much when he stands so close while Keiji fixes his tie in the mornings before classes and tells them that their eyes are so green, didjya know that?
Too much. Keiji's feelings for Bokuto are too much.
Confessing isn't quite as easy as it should be, Akaashi has found.
