Right at the edge of their survey site, the boundaries carefully drawn to ensure it was included, sat a stone. It could have been mistaken for a natural feature, were it not for one side of the massive stone being unnaturally flat, and though there was moss and lichen covering the greatly weathered face, there were a few small lines of engraving still barely visible.
Alizia knew the stone well. She'd grown up in the town just at the foot of the mountain, and school trips and family hikes alike had taken her to the ruins, and to the Witcher Grave, as locals had always called it.

It had been a long night, spent chasing the Riddler's puzzles from one end of Gotham to the other, and Bruce only stumbled up from the cave well after four am. He had planned to have some chamomile tea and then try to snatch at least a couple of hours of sleep before he was expected to show face for an investors meeting, though his plans were quickly derailed when, yawning widely enough that his jaw clicked, he nearly tripped over Jason on his way toward the kitchen.

Summary
Standing alone on the ramparts, John watched the Massed Pipes and Drums marched in formation as the crowds sat in awe. He swore he could see some members of the audience wiping their eyes. The pipes had always made him a little emotional too; it was what had led him here, to performing for thousands.
Soap picked up the bagpipes while recovering from Makarov's attack. Now, years later, he plays for thousands at one of the biggest events he will ever be a part of. It's still not the most important performance he's ever given.

Scott’s not really surprised to spot Ilya Rozanov backstage, getting lightly swarmed by a crowd of sound techs and hair and makeup crew. Even on the rare year that neither of them were getting any awards, the League always tried to get either him or Hollander, and preferably both, presenting something. And since Hollander was still out for the count and recovering up in Ottawa, that left Rozanov, standing awkwardly while a harried-looking woman straightened his bow-tie.

Summary
Pretty much the first thing Scott figured out about hockey is how much men who don’t play it love the high of it. Execs love to push the guys to skate harder, faster, get the adrenaline so high they can feel it from the box. Or, well, that was the first thing he figured out about hockey after he ended up in a billet in Albany after his parents died. His parents had taught him a hell of a lot before the car crash, but sometimes the thing he played as a kid feels like a different sport altogether.
